I’m about halfway through my Residency at Westbury Arts Centre now, so I thought I should share some photos of what I’ve been up to so far! I will post more stuff soon, but for now here are some pictures from a recent workshop here that I attended. It was learning masking techniques run by artist Cathy Read, who currently is currently exhibiting with ceramist and architect Sally Brooks in the ‘Shack to City’ exhibition in the house here at Westbury Arts Centre.
It was really refreshing to be learning new techniques, and I really enjoyed spending the day playing and experimenting. As a beginner you feel a lot more free to play and less precious about the outcome, which I think is an important attitude to try and maintain at any level of your art practice.
Various stages of the process.
Playing!
One of my pieces finished.
Another finished piece, using a different masking technique to the previous piece.
